![]() ![]() One unit will take care of real-world sounds, the other the synthetic side. However, the I-7 sounds that damned good that I'm close to taking the plunge by ditching the XV and purchasing a 2nd one. AFAIK none of the Spectrasonics SFX board's patches or waves made it to the I-7, and I spent a year fretting over which cards to buy. Well, I'm reluctant to sell my XV-5080 for the SR-JV80 reason also. Although I have a V-Synth XT and a Yamaha MOXF, the integra is my main board for Strings, Orchestral Sounds, Pads, Basses, Drum Sounds (together with the ARP generated MOXF patterns), Acoustic, Electric and Distortion Guitars, Pianos and Electric Pianos. all in all, very flexible and reliable board. This enables me to use OUTs 3/4 for Bass, 5/6 for Drums, 7/8 for Strings/Pads and Main (SP/DIF) for everything else. ![]() Big PLUS for the 8xMONO/4xSTEREO fully assignable OUTs. It is damn easy to edit from the front-panel. I second TagPass's opinion regarding the front-Panel. The Front-Panel and the MIDI Controllers for everything else. The Roland MAC Editor is basically the same as the iPad and have occasional crushes, and the Roland MAC Librarian is (for me) too confuse and unreliable too, so I end up not using them at all, keeping the iPad Editor for Part Mutes, Part (MIDI channel) Volumes, Part EQ, Part Reverb, Chorus and Pan editing and for choosing sounds from the very visual laid SoundBanks. Like TagPass said, the editor connection (even in AdHoc mode) is cut if we don't disable the iPad Autolock. All the other SN-Acoustic parameters like Cutoff, Resonance, Reverb, Chorus, Growl, Attack, Strum Mode, Strum Speed, Noise Level, Variations, StudioSet Select, Expansion Board load, etc, are being adjusted from my 2x MIDI Controllers (PCR-500, A-800 PRO). Despite being incomplete, the iPad Editor is very handy for what I need to do. Very flexible and easy to edit SuperNatural Synth sounds (VA) (the PCM Synth has more options but are more complex to configure without a computer Editor, however, as I'm using all PCM sounds with very little tweaks, it's perfectly ok) ![]() Contrary to our fellow TagPass, for me the SuperNatural Acoustic sounds are the MUST have and the PCM are the added extra ones The added bonus of all 12 x SRX boards (especially the SRX06 and SRX07 that for me are the best ones for the sounds I need) Almost all published XV/Fantom PCM sounds, so I could duplicate my Fantom / SC sounds although had to create them from scratch as there is no upgrade path. I had a RD-170, a Fantom Xa and a SonicCell and in JAN 2013 had the big luck to receive an integra-7 as a gift from a few friends, and for me the important things to mention on this board are: Don't know if you can send any custom sounds directly to the module though, but I would imagine the Performances would have to be built from scratch again since the bank structure is different. I actually find it a bit easier to navigate than my Oasys even despite the exponentially smaller screen.Īnyhow, the transition to the Integra module was completely seamless, and I'm glad to have all my favorite old XV and SRX sounds back at my disposal again. ![]() Now, I am not very patient with menu-diving synths, but I think the structure and navigation is laid out well enough that I can actually do things fairly quickly from there. Thus, I tend to do the bulk of editing from the front panel. The editor(s) are pretty good for selecting sounds to slot into Studio Sets, although there's a LOT of scrolling and - at least on my system - a LOT of MIDI hangups/freezes necessitating PANIC commands. You cannot use it to edit PCM/SRX sounds or effects, the latter of which is an especial shame, because you'd think that even simple FX tweaking would be one of the things you'd want most easily accessible, right? (The connection is lost when the iPad sleeps.)Įither way, while the editor is "handy", it still feels a little incomplete. I think I've finally got it stabilized now, however, by using the AdHoc wireless connection and making sure I disable Autolock on the iPad. The iPad version is identical, and I experienced a lot of connection problems. The AU editor stopped working properly once I upgraded to LogicX and Mavericks, but it was fine until then. I too, purchased the I-7 *mainly* for the XV Legacy sounds and the SRXs and consider all the other stuff to be really, really nice extras!Īs for the editing. Wasn't a 5080 owner, but came from an JV/XP/XV/Fantom background, so was familiar with the structure going in. ![]()
